Maybe I am not the average person, but I have been known to keep a breed of chicken simply because they were mentioned in one of my favore books.  The above Buff Orpingtons were referenced in the mystery Busman's Honeymoon by Dorothy Sayers. 

At the moment my flock includes 
1 Black Copper Marans rooster, 
3 black Araucanas
2 Buff Orpington hens,
1 small white bantam hen  
12 young Barred Rock Hens. 

Coming this April I have ordered 10 Bourbon Red and 10 Midget White turkeys....I am so excited!
